OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. The original manufacturer of the auto parts sold at Penske Chevrolet of Cerritos is GM. Aftermarket auto parts are parts made by third party companies based on OEM part designs.

Which is better? Honestly, OEM parts are going to be your best option more often than not because the OEM designs both the vehicle and the part. The same design specs are used and the same factory makes the part, which means there will be less of a discrepancy from part to part. You will also always have some kind of warranty with the part.

This is not to say all aftermarket parts are bad though. You can find good alternative aftermarket parts that will be comparable to auto parts made by OEMs. They are just harder to come by and might not always fit as well as OEM auto parts; they also don’t always come with warranties. If you’re looking at aftermarket parts that are considerably cheaper in price, chances are they are made cheap and will break down faster.

If you have any questions regarding OEM or aftermarket parts, feel free to reach out to our high qualified service team. We will be able to steer you in the right direction.

After acquiring their first NASCAR XFINITY Series win of the season, Team Penske announced their plan to return to a two-car system. This move is based on the success of this team since its inception in 2009. In the past they ran a two-car system and they want to get back to that.

Team Penske History

Team Penske is one of the most successful teams in the history of professional sports and they are celebrating its 50th Anniversary during the 2016 season. Team Penske’s first race was in 1996. Since that race they have accumulated 430 major race wins, over 500 pole positions and 28 National Championships across open-wheel, stock car and sports car racing.

If you’re a race car fan, look for their cars on the track next time.

Let’s hear it for Brad Keselowski.

On July 9, 2016 in Sparta, KY, Brad Keselowski of Team Penske won the Quaker State 400 with just enough gas to reach the finish line. The last time Keselowski won the Kentucky was back in 2014 and the time before that was in 2012.

It was a stunning victory and a carefully calculated one. After he won the race, Keselowski stated he couldn’t do burnouts for the fans because his car ran out of gas. This race proves how much Nascar can be a chess match between drivers.

Like many hero stories, the birth of Team Penske began with a pioneer – a young car driver with a dream. Roger Penske, aka “The Captain”, started his life with an entrepreneur spirit instilled by his father. As a teenager, he bought old cars, fixed them up and resold them for a profit. His next venture would be racing.

Roger Penske made his start as a driver at Marlboro Motor Raceway in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. By 1960 he was a well-known racer, and by the time he retired, he claimed 28 national championships, 13 in Indy car racing.

He retired from driving in 1965 to build a Chevrolet dealership in Philadelphia, but his retirement was never from racing – only driving. Using his dealership, he fielded cars for races and eventually teamed up with driver Mark Donohue. With Donohue as the team driver, Penske Racing won two consecutive USRRC championships and three SCCA Trans-AM titles.

Donohue finished second at Indianapolis in 1970 and on July 3, 1971 at Pocono 500, he won team Penske’s first championship car victory. A year later, Donohue won the Indianapolis 500 with a race record that held for many years.

The success of team Penske still continues on today with more than 170 race victories – 13 of them being national championships – and Roger Penske continues to be active in the car racing world.

Summer Prep Tips

Jun 16, 2016

Road trips and summer are terms that end up in the same sentence often. Summer is vacation season. We hit the beach, campground or some fancy hotel. The warm weather brings us out of winter hibernation. More cars are on the road and more pedestrians are crossing the streets. Aside from the heavier traffic, we also need to watch out for the heat. So for the month of June, Penske Chevrolet of Cerritos is offering up three summer road trip preparation tips.

#1 Check The Air Conditioner

The last thing you want to do is get stuck in a heat wave while driving and end up dripping sweat as you arrive at your hotel. Run the air conditioner for a while before you venture forth on your next road trip. If the A/C unit blows cold air and sounds like its running fine, then it should be fine. If you’re noticing a lack of cool air, inconsistent performance or a rattling fan, you should have the A/C checked.

#2 Check The Cooling Fan

The cooling fan is linked to your air conditioner. It should be running when the air conditioner unit is on as it helps cool the engine. Make sure the cooling fan is running when your A/C is turned on to max. If it is not, you should get this checked immediately. A bad cooling fan can cause the engine to overheat.

#3 Check Coolant Fluid

Checking coolant fluid is the easiest task on our list. Just make sure you check the fluid when the engine is cool. You do not want to open the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Boiling fluids could spray out at you. If the coolant is low, refill it with a 50/50 mixture of water and coolant. Maintaining optimal coolant levels will help you avoid a situation where you have to pull over to the side of the road because your engine is overheating.

Summer is nearly upon us and Penske Chevrolet of Cerritos is excited about it. Road trips are on our mind. Below are three short drives from Cerritos, making for a fun day trip away.

Dana Point, CA

46 miles southeast of Cerritos, CA you’ll find Dana Point, a scenic location where quiet tidepools, a busy marina, and the Ocean Institute draw visitors. The city is named after the author Richard Henry Dana, Jr and his Pilgrim ship is actually used at the Ocean Institute to educate. This place is perfect for a family visit.

Hunting Beach, CA

20 miles south of Cerritos, CA lies Hunting Beach, CA. It’s home to the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve and Huntington Beach Wetlands as well as serves as a top surfing destination in the area. If you like beaches, surfing or California nature, you must see the beauty of this town for yourself.

Malibu, CA

Malibu, CA is only 52 miles northwest of Cerritos. It’s home to a plethora of beaches and hikes that lead up to the Santa Monica mountains. Some top places to visit in Malibu are Zuma Beach, Castro Crest Trail, Adamson House Museum, Pepperdine University, Malibu’s Surfrider Beach, and El Matador Beach.

If you’ve been to all three of these places already and are looking for something new, do a quick search on the internet. California offers plenty of places to explore.

The new Chevy Malibu has been completely redesigned inside and out. This is more than a new model year, this is an all new car, packed with tons of new features and technology that really make it stand out from the pack.

Get Connected, Stay Connected and Enjoy Apple or Android Syncing

The New Malibu is designed for today’s connected world. There are built-in USB ports, available wireless charging and an intuitive display that supports Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to keep you fully connected on the go. These features allow you to sync your smartphone with your car to listen to music and audio books, access GPS and use your phone hands-free. In addition to that, the Malibu also acts as a 4G Wi-fi hotspot that lets your passengers connect up to seven wireless devices to the internet. Think how great that would be on a long road trip with kids?

The Chevy Malibu Features Innovative New Safety Features

The Chevy Malibu is the first car to offer an new safety feature called Teen Driver. This is a special setting you can activate on your Malibu to help you teach your teen safe driving habits even when you’re not in the car. There are several settings you can use to modify how the car operates when your teen is behind the wheel. This setting allows you to mute the radio until seat belts are engaged, lower the volume setting to minimize distractions and even provide a report about your teen’s speed and braking history.

Save at the Pump with Chevy Malibu

Another great feature of the new Malibu is how it’ll help you save money at the pump. Both Malibu models are designed with maximum fuel efficiency in mind. Take the hybrid model for example, it’s estimated to get you 45 miles per gallon combined City/Highway. But the non-hybrid Malibu also boasts some serious fuel economy as well. Thanks to something called “Stop/Start” technology, the new Malibu is designed to turn off the engine when the car is at a complete stop to save fuel. Then, when you’re ready to go again, the car starts right back up without you even noticing it the engine was powered down in the first place. This technology gives you a sporty ride while offering 37 MPG highway miles between fill-ups.

If you’re looking for a great mid-sized car that’s packed with features designed to fit your life and save you money at the pump, you’ve got to see the newly re-designed Chevy Malibu.
